Consolidation of Deliveries
Consolidation of deliveries contains demonstrations in Ravenna, Göteborg, Bristol, Riga and Ljubljana and focus on the common theme consolidation of deliveries. Areas of demonstration include city centres and edge of centre locations. The demonstrations will improve the environment by reducing emissions and energy consumption through a reduction in freight vehicle movements and by the encouragement of clean vehicles.

Within the consolidation of deliveries workpackage the START cities will:
  • Implement consolidation schemes in new areas and with new participants,
  • Develop a business model and implement additional services,
  • Demonstrate the impacts of the consolidation schemes

Expected outcome:
  • Add additional retailers (up to a total of 60), with a 50 % reduction in associated delivery trips and doubling of load factor in consolidation of reverse flow in the Bristol consolidation scheme.
  • A consolidation scheme will be set up in Göteborg with the aim of reduce transport movements in the pilot area and increase the load factor.
  • A consolidation scheme will be set up in Ravenna resulting in a reduction in freight flow and a reduction in the number of delivery trips.
  • A study with recommendations carried out in Riga on the possibilities and prerequisites for freight consolidation.
  • A developed concept for a sophisticated city-logistic-model in Ljubljana.
  • Investigations of the impacts of the scheme with regulatory measures.
