START Final Conference, 11-12 December, Göteborgs Stad

START Final Conference, 11-12 December, Göteborgs Stad

Acknowledging that the current system of goods distribution is rich in emissions and not necessarily energy efficient, the five cities of START has implemented a mixture of complementary long-term planning actions, for the reduction of the need of transport, with short term initiatives, such as access restrictions, consolidation centres and incentives. The approach of the project is based on the close collaboration between city governments, transport companies and local businesses formalised in local freight networks, which have been established in each START city.

The project START has been running since 2006 and is in January 2009 coming to an end. Three years of cooperation and development of innovative measures around urban distribution of goods will be summarised in the Final Conference which will be held in Göteborg between the 11th -12th of December.

The programme offers an interesting overview of different aspects of urban distribution of goods; from general and theoretical presentations to practical experiences from each of the START cities. To see the full programme, click here.

Please register in the form in the programme before 1st of December!

How to go from Göteborg Landvetter Airport to the city centre?

Airport bus
The Airport bus leaves every 20 minutes from the airport, and takes about 30 minutes into the city centre. A one-way ticket is SEK 75 (€ 8) and you can pay with Euros.

Taxi There are normally plenty of taxis at the airport. Please ask for a fixed rate, since it is often cheaper. You should anyway not pay more than SEK 450. Most Taxis accept the most common credit cards such as VISA or Eurocard.

Hotels Göteborg is hosting several concerts, convents and other events during the year. Because of this many hotels can from time to time be fully booked. Please make hotel arrangements early to be sure that there are available rooms. On the 10th of December a concert will be organised in the city which is expected to attract lot of people. So in order not to be left without a hotel room, please make arrangements well ahead of the conference.
